I opted into the client and reproduced it so I posted on the Steam Beta forums which is about the best I can do. Hopefully Valve sees it before the client is promoted to stable.

It seems like it isn't loading the mod's custom binaries for some reason when launching the mod through the Steam library (I get error "could not load library client".)

Interestingly, launching through the command line like so still does work:

Code: [Select]
"c:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steam.exe" -applaunch 218 -game "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\sourcemods\gesource"

I just figured out what the issue was.

For some reason Goldeneye: Source will not launch if you use the Steam Beta Update,
it launches just fine now after disabling it.

I used the full installer (GoldenEye_Source_v5.0.6_full.exe) from the Official website.

Source SDK 2007 does launch just fine and i also tried verifying the files for it,
but Goldeneye: Source will still not launch.

How did you install GE:S? Installer/zip file?

Is Source SDK Base 2007 installed? This should install automatically, but it's worth making sure (search the Tools section of your Steam library).

You could also try the following:

1) Launch Source SDK Base 2007 to see if it has the same issue
2) Validating the files for Source SDK Base 2007

I installed the x86 version now but the issue still persists.

I also tried uninstalling the x64 version that was already installed,
but the game will still not launch.

Correct, because it is a 32-bit game.

Please download and install the Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30679

Important: Download VSU_4\vcredist_x86.exe

I have 64-bit Windows 10/11, do i still need to download the x86 version?

Tried playing Goldeneye: Source today and it will not launch at all for some reason.

I just get a spinning circle next to the mouse cursor for a few seconds,
but the game will not actually launch.

Tried starting the game up on two different computers with the same result,
anyone else having the same issue?

Computer 1:

Windows 10 (22H2, Build 19045.3636)
AMD Ryzen 9 5950X (16 cores, 32 threads)
64 GB DDR4 Ram (3600 Mhz)
Geforce RTX 4080 Founders Edition (16 GB)
nVidia Driver: 546.08 (Hotfix)

Computer 2:

Windows 11 (23H2, Build 22635.2700)
Intel Xeon X5690 (6 cores, 12 threads)
24 GB of DDR3 Ram (1600 Mhz)
GeForce GTX Titan X (Maxwell, 12 GB)
nVidia Driver: 545.84 (WHQL)

The fact that the game will not launch on two completely different computers is strange.
