Title: A letter from the Goldeneye source team:
Post by: Cloppy on November 22, 2006, 11:10:19 pm
Hello Goldeneyesource fans,
We have received many questions about the upcoming release and our mod in general. This press release will hopefully answer some of your questions.

Here is a quick status update of the site.
We have had a few ups and downs with our site recently and we would like you to know our current status. Our site is still being designed and we hope to have up shortly. Our forums hosted on invision free were lost due to a server crash, so we decided to setup and host our own. You will have to register again but we believe the forums will be better then ever and include a lot of new features for you.

As an additional note please be sure to visit our IRC channel on gamesurge at #goldeneyesource

About the Next release.
It was one year ago that we released our mod on Christmas day and since it was so successful we are planning it again. That.s right another release on Christmas and not a moment too soon. We have bigger and better things planned for our supporting community. Again we will have an IRC Release Party on the 24th of December and release the mod at 12:00 am Christmas morning. Included in this release are pictures of the upcoming release, please enjoy.

Thanksgiving holiday.
We here at the Goldeneye source team value spending time with the family and friends and each other online. Thanksgiving is not only a time for eating but for giving thanks for all we have and all we are blessed with. We hope you have a good time and wish you a safe and happy holiday and soon enough the Christmas season will be here.

@Cloppy: Now that you are hosting the forums, will the team be able to cover up the costs genereated by the forums traffic, in the event the mod before more and more popular ?

We're just going to have to find out. We don't think the forums will go down completly, but don't expect them to be fast though.

So far they've been fine with speed and whatnot.

Do you guys think a demo of some sort could come into picture ??? ;D
Title: Re: A letter from the Goldeneye source team:
Post by: Sean [Baron] on November 23, 2006, 05:39:54 pm
Why would you need a demo? People download demo's because the retail game costs money and they want to see how good it is, or how well it runs on their PC. -- Our mod is free, so what you download is what you get.

Baron, mbsurfer was referring to this i believe.

He's requesting us to see a sneak peek (demo as he worded it) of the new site, no?

this is AWSOME news. I've been clicking on this site every day for the last few months now praying there would be some word of a release date. Today that day has finally arrived and words cannot explain my excitement!!!

btw, is this a BETA being released on xmas?

or is it a Full game?
Title: Re: A letter from the Goldeneye source team:
Post by: Wake[of]theBunT on November 23, 2006, 07:21:15 pm
Just BETA, the game is a very extensive one if you remember the original, it had 20+levels, so this could be still another year of development by my guess.

BETA is a huge step towards the true feel of goldeneye, and the content is amazing compared with alpha, you will be uber-excited christmas day.

Unfortunatly I'm on vacation with no internet until 6th. 7th January so it looks like I will have to wait just a little bit more. Oh well, good things come to those who wait as they say!

Title: Re: A letter from the Goldeneye source team:

Basically the same as alpha. If you can run HL2 or CS:S you should actually get slightly better FPS on goldeneye source.

Our Beta..

As for content,  lots of new stuff, tons of fixes.   Might put a list "change log" out..  but I dont think people want to read 30 pages.

Just to expand on what Enzo said, don't expect an "official" list of what'll be in the beta before it releases. Surprises are fun, right?  :P

The real reason is beacuse there's no way we could've kept track of all of the changes.
Title: Re: A letter from the Goldeneye source team:
Post by: Wake[of]theBunT on December 07, 2006, 05:55:45 am
Of course there is. It's more like

'theres no real reason to because that would just take time away from the progress of the person in charge of tracking the changes'

=P

But i doubt he'll be back anytime soon coz hes supporting a family, and if he does rest assured he'll complain about the theft, get over it and make the name :
