I get an error message saying that "The steam account has been used to log in from another computer" every time I try to join a game.
I can host a game, though nobody seem to ever join it. I have signed in and out several times, and this has been going on since I've downloaded it. I've logged in and out, restarted, played other games... nothing changes it.
Please help.

Try going to C:\Program Files\Steam\ and deleting clientregistry.blob. It'll be re-acquired when you log into Steam, and fixes funky issues like this when all else fails.
-
so you've Steam>Change User>Login?
-
??? So ive tried uninstalling steam ive tried log in and out and ive tried
"Shutdown steam entirely
Delete ClientScheme.blob from your steam directory.
Start steam, login"
Also tried suggestions here http://forums.goldeneyesource.net/index.php/topic,4105.0.html
ive always wanted to play and all I can do is seem to host. HL2 deathmatch doesnt seem to give any errors but this does. Im clueless? any new suggestions ive searched most of the threads on here. and on
http://wiki.goldeneyesource.net/index.php/Troubleshooting#Disconnected:_Account_Used_Elsewhere
I have also changed my password... still to nothing changing , Any ideas?

so you've Steam -> Change User -> Log back in?
-
yes several times :-[
-
Typically, one of these fixes the issue:
Deleting ClientRegistry.blob
Restarting Steam
Logging in and out
Logging in and out on another computer, then logging in again
Sorry to say, might just have to sit out for a day and check back next day. This is a common issue with steam and we can't really do anything.
Unless someone smarter has a new workaround, might have to just wait it out.
Sorry, hopefully see you in game soon.

For the record (17th time) this only affects mods because Valve is a huge douche. Retail games automatically update your online precense when you try to play them, mod games do not. We have no control over this whatsoever.
If you continue to experience this even after an uninstall/reinstall then you might have a serious issue with your account in general. Maybe you should change your password or try disabling "auto-login" ie type in your password every time you start steam.
Ever since I did that (disable auto-login) I have not had this trouble. I bounce between my laptop and desktop, which is the root cause of this account used elsewhere issue.
