Hello community,
I just want to let you all know that v4.2.3 is currently in release testing with RC1 being distributed to our active community members and the team. We will be running it through its paces over the next couple of days to iron out any last minute issues. Here is a brief list of things that are new in v4.2.3:
[Python]
* GEUtil.PlaySoundFrom localizes the sound now to the immediate area
* Consolidated GEUtil.PlaySound functions
* Added GEPlayer.GetSteamID() to python API
* Added GEUtil.StopSound function
* Fixed justification in HUD Messages from Python
* Added several new temporary entities to GEUtil.CreateTempEnt
* Can submit server and client commands from python as if from console
[Scenarios]
* CTK: World kills now count as suicides
* Added Arsenal and Tournament DM from Troy
[HUD/VGUI]
* Team Round Report scores are more readable
* Round Report title is localizable (and changes between round and match)
* Fixed round report showing incorrect information when switching game modes mid-match
* Added color hinting to HUD Messages
* Bot difficulty and turbo mode were added to the new server menu
[Weapons]
* Fixed Ammo/Armor/Weapons respawning instantly with > 24 players
* Make projectiles pass through teammates (except when friendly fire is on)
* Added sniper rifle zoom in/out with the mouse wheel
* Fixed grenade launcher shells losing all velocity sometimes on bounce
[Gameplay / Misc]
* Add glow to capture areas
* Added Enable/Disable inputs for item_armorvest
* Toned down the screen flash after receiving damage
* Fixed overlapping of capture areas
* Added ge_endround_keepweapons command to keep the current weapon set across round transitions
* npc_mine is now separated into three different entities: npc_mine_remote, npc_mine_proximity, npc_mine_timed
* A convar to disable the open slot left when filling a server with bots
* Advanced music selection based on map defined areas
* Fixed loadout manager not selecting gameplay loadouts properly
Troy did an excellent job writing the new Tournament DM and GunGame (now called Arsenal)!
A ton of bug fixes were also incorporated and tweaks to the invulnerability period. The spawning system was also fixed so that you will no longer spawn in the middle of a fire fight. The overall result should be a much more balanced game with a focus on fun instead of luck.

Nice one. Kudos to yourself, Troy and anyone else who was involved in any way in the making of this update. Hopefully this, along with the recent SeaNanners clip, will help boost the player base and get GE:S back into the spotlight again

Um... I didn't see anything about Bots being fixed though, have these issues been corrected?
I don't think KM plans on focusing on bots for the patch. The SDK bug really puts a damper on them being used online anyways.

Right now bots are worthless for online play thanks to Valve. In the recode, I won't make the bots occupy player slots. They will be players, but not in the classical sense. Obviously this will take a bit of time.
I also plan to use python entirely for their decision process. Right now it's a shared task between the classic hl2 Ai code and python.

YES!!!, Goldeneye Source now features, a rigged free spawning system. :D

I can't wait to start playing GE:S all over again.
The last time I played GE:S was 7 months ago
P.S I'm back, I only used this forum account a year back, just to fix my GE:S problems. Hopefully, I'll stay alive on this forum.

So wait , currently we can't use bots on LAN with latest SDK?
I'm just hopping this update doesn't brake custom maps, just like with 4.1 to 4.2 update, some maps have missing textures and they need to be updated for 4.2

You can use bots on LAN right now, However, There are several issues about them that needs to be fixed.
Also, Updates like 4.2.3 are most likely only to be bug fixes and code changes, I don't expect any new maps to be released until 4.3. I could be wrong though.

Everything is perfect and i think my opinion is valid since i have over 1800hrs played on this mod.

but on the subject of Modelers is it possible that we could advertise Modeler Positions on websites to try to invoke new blood into GES?

If only it were that simple. Trust me, multiple people have tried getting in contact with him and getting the models. Unfortunately, all we have at this point are some old renders of what could have been. One of the models was found and I rigged him when I went on my big character re-rigging binge a while back, but we never got the textures...

We are in the final stretches of release testing! Thanks to Troy, Joe, and our normal testers, we have identified and fixed a good number of pesky bugs. Some of these are in the current version of GES, which is great news!
Here is the change log since release testing began:
~ Incorporated VGF's hi-res models
~ Arsenal fixes for PrintWeapon
~ Fixed a teamplay bug where player's match scores would be reset if ge_autoteam was active but teamplay didn't actually turn on/off due to the scenario
~ Fixed an intermittent crash when loading a new map if LALD was played on the last map
~ Cleaned up LALD and added a new way to pick the next Baron to make sure every player gets to play
~ Fixed music dimming from Python
~ Fixed HUD Messages drawing over each other even in a defined channel
~ Fixed python debugger connection issues
~ Added "curr_value" parameter to GEUtil.InitHudProgressBar
~ Fixed achievement panel not sizing correctly on first pop-out
+ Added specialized team filter to give more flexibility to Python messages (for observer vs non-observer messages and progress bars)
~ Fixed Yolt's foes indicator for eliminated players and spectators

It's working ingame for me, but with the server browser it's malfunctioning again.

Ofc. i checked all the filter settings but they're ok. Favorites are also working.
This reminds me on the issue we had some time ago. Possibly Valve is messing up something again.

The Steam server browser works fine for me. They must've fixed it.

Sounds great, can't wait til finished so can upgrade our servers too.
Anyone tested installing a fresh server since the HL2 core is now on steampipe, like everything else is getting moved to?

Give Killermoney a break. The guy programmed bots ALL BY HIMSELF and probably help from others, but majority of the code was written by him. His sweat and tears is what made the update so great.
Nothing can be perfected in such small amount of time. Just be glad he PUT bots. Majority of the community were asking for it and the devs listened and delivered.
Wait for another few months as more exciting things will come.
In the meantime, play online with your friends. Get a server up and running and get the word out.

My family and I are okay. Just highly inconvenienced with the City turning our power off even though we live on high ground. (bad power grid design) But we help all those affected.

Thats a good sign, Valve released the Source SDK 2013 which added Mac and Linux mod development support, :-D Hopefully this will be picked up by GoldenEye: Source (and all other mods that are pretty sweet) at some point an deliver us full Linux client release, :-D
An yeah, holy crap, glad you and your family are okay Enzo.Matrix! (I now have the urge to re-watch every episode of ReBoot, your fault, hehe) But yeah, sounds like it was pretty awful. It goes to show how much we rely on the simple things like electricity, etc, an when it goes it can screw things over epically. :-(
Have they managed to get it sorted though now? Or is it still a bit of an iffy situation for you?
