Pretty much all solutions are shown there.

thanks for the link but nothing has helped, still getting the error, only for this game.

I believe IT guys may have an acronym that applies:
PICNIC

All you have to do is delete ClientRegistry.blob located in your steam directory, log out of steam, and login. You might get an error message when you see the update box. Run steam again and then the update will work. Try joining a server and it should work.
-
I use to get this like once a month. All I had to do was change user in steam and log back in, would fix it.
-
tried deleting the blob and still getting the same error.
-
99% of the time...
Log out of steam, dont just quit.
-
i did log out, a few times and still not working.
-
Could be a firewall issue, make sure hl2.exe is allowed. If you have a router make sure all of the ports are forwarded correctly.

i checked that out but its still happening and only for this mod, it doesnt do it for any cs or dod of tf2. for some reason its letting me in the game for about 4 seconds then kicked, its getting farther, before it wouldnt fully connect to a server before dropping.
-
Wait for KM to stop by, see what he has to say.
-
Some of these questions might seem silly, but may lead to an answer:
1. Are you running a pirated version of steam?
2. Were you getting any other types of error messages before?
3. You said you could play for ~4 seconds, are you VAC banned?
4. Have you tried ANY other mod? TF2, CS, and DOD are not mods, they are retail games. I am specifically looking at mods that run the orange box (aka Source SDK Base 2007).
Needless to say, but this is not an issue with our mod.
-
my steam is legit, no other error messages. not vac banned. i havent tried another mod for hl2, this is the only one.
-
Make sure you do Steam > Change User
If you simply exit steam and open it again it won't fix it.
If you do Steam > Logout it won't fix it.
Change user forces all instances of your account to log out. It's a common problem.
This isn't necessarily the cause of your issue though.
-
ive tried doing the change user several times and still hasnt fixed it.
-
Could just be you internet. How long has it been doing it? It might just stop randomly. It sometimes does that and just starts working. Steam is like a temperamental woman....
-
Hey i am having the same problem as poo i did everything that is said in this topic but nothing at all works my steam is 100% legit and i keep geting kicked about 4-5 sec from connecting in game can anyone help with this

Close Steam -> delete 'config' folder in steam install location (X:\Program Files\Steam) -> reopen steam -> re-login -> Should be fixed.

Deleting the config folder worked for my roommate, however did not work for me. I'm not about to delete my entire steam apps folder to play this thing. Hopefully the GE:S guys come up with a workaround that's actually feasible for people, or figure out a way to fix it.
-
Hey noisuf, It has nothing to do with GE:S. It is because of Valve being a piece of shit.

Delete everything in your Steam except:
Steam.exe
steamapps folder
If that doesn't fix it, wait for Valve.

That will take some time.
Excuse me, I mean a lifetime.

You don't have to delete your entire steam folder. Read the post again.

I can't believe this error. My two friends and I wanted to play one night and we all got the Invalid Steam User ID ticket upon connection. I deleted my config folder and got squared away.
My two friends both did the same and one couldn't get Steam to work, and the other had the issue of "The game isn't available". If this is what it's going to be like every other month, I'm not going to be too happy overall.

Valve needs to seriously look into these issues it does not bode well for the steam service in general. What if authentication suddenly broke down for a popular game like MW3?
-
Thousands of 12 year old kids will cry, Nothing more. Lame joke, I know.
I get your point though, But Valve is way too lazy to look into their current issues to fix it, They'd rather release more hats for TF2.
Remember the master server for HL1 based games being hacked? It's still not functional, Even after three, Maybe four years, And they'll never fix it, Even though they are well aware of the issue.
This SteamID ticket issue has been around ever since Source was released, And they are also aware of it, But let's face it, They just don't care.
