I know this is probably a dumb question but how do I change the in game name that is being used?

It uses your steam name by default, but you can open the game console and type "setinfo name [NAME_HERE]" if you want to change it for just GE:S.

It resets each map change, though.

I can't say I've heard of this before.  You can probably put "setinfo name NAME" in gesource/cfg/autoexec.cfg if you can't get around it, but this is pretty weird to me.  It should always use the name your steam profile does, have you tried changing it?
