Problem Launching GES
« on: June 24, 2010, 08:46:47 pm »

ok, well my friend downloaded GES onto his PC, on his Steam account, he had portal, the full version from when they were giving it out for free after they released it for mac. thats the only Source engine game he had, so i got him the free Nvidia HL2: DM, still no orange box SDK 2007 Base.

what games can he buy that will allow him to use the Source Orange Box 2007 Base?

PS:
on my account, i have Left 4 dead: 2, Teamfortress 2, Portal, HL2: DM. and i can run the game.

Any Source-powered game that isn't from the L4D series should include the SDK Base. You cannot get the SDK Base from any free deals like the ones you mentioned, and some common examples of games that come with it are anything from the HL2 Series, CSS, TF2, or Portal.

Only source based games. Cheapest way is HL2:DM, its only $5.

look for games with Source SDK.

CS:S is far more interesting than HL2:DM, but IMO both games suck pretty hard. HL2:DM is good if you're looking just to play Source mods and nothing more since it has a very small community, terrible gameplay, and is unsupported by Valve for the most part, CS:S is good if you're actually planning on playing the game you're buying at least more than once, especially since they just released a mega update for it that improved the game immensely, and I think it's on sale.

All Valve games are on sale atm. Summer sale and all. HL2DM is looking good for £2 xD

But i would really recommend splashing the £9 out for TF2. Now that is a good game.
