Help us get 20,000 likes, even if you aren't a fan of the mod. Be nice and support your fellow individuals of the community that do like it. Getting 20,000 likes will have them upload new media/information for everyone; something they haven't done in years. lol

If it ever gets released I'm sure it will be great, but they do lack PR. Making fans "like" their Facebook page just to squeeze out information is bad taste.

I really dislike PR strategies like this.
On the other hand something is definitely stirring with Black Mesa. It's a wholly valid way of returning attention to them.
What with their interview with Rock, Paper, Shotgun last month (http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/05/09/interview-what-happened-to-black-mesa-source-part-1/). I've a lot of respect for their reasons for holding back the mod and not releasing media for a long time. The same mentality is behind why we didn't release 4.2 6 months ago.
This all speaks to me that we might be looking at a 2012 release for it. It is a big deal.

It would be amusing if the number of "Likes" just lingered a bit below 20k for a while and stayed there... They should just release the media right away.
After having read that interview, I am curious to see what they have done. They may be aiming too damn high.

Im not a "hater". My professional opinion is these guys are empty shirts. It should be that only a perfect game will ever justify for anyone this negligent run of poor PR history vs. community they enjoy.
Seriously last I checked they had 5000 active forum members who have been waiting 4 years now and they've received nothing. There is a point where they become just sad for continuing to reward it. That point isn't in the future... it was at 2010 when the supposed release was a sure thing. ;)
edit: This feels like an internal decision was made to go on or not based on how many people still care about them. Id say their numbers of faithful are down. It's likely nothing to do with the media, but measuring their time (which could be much more strained at this point and as failure drags on) vs who cares.

Like getting a PR representative to do these things is hard in any way or hurts development one bit? And to speak about complaints as if they didn't deserve them is silly.

I think another part of it is just how closed off their mod is. I understand how they want to surprise everyone, but the fact that they hardly ever leak even tiny little pieces of information in this long a time period is a bit silly and adds to the fact that they have little to no "official" PR.
That's one thing I like about GES; we actually talk with our fans and unless it's something that's a huge surprise, we're fairly open with our playerbase once we get a certain feature implemented.
