Last night, I downloaded beta 3.1, and that's it. I can open the game, start my own game, but I cannot find any other games. What am I missing, or what is going on?
-
Try clicking refresh.
Many people have this bug where it shows few or no servers when they first run the game. Refreshing your server list should reveal the servers.
-
Hey there, welcome to the forums.
Do what Mangley said but also uncheck the "Show Server list" or however it is called in the lower left corner of your server browser. That might be causing troubles too.
-
Thanks for the help.
I tried both of these, and all it does is try to refresh forever, with no results.
Is me living in Canada a problem?
Edit: Could you add me on steam (acc name watties1269) and then I follow you into a game?
-
Hmm.. try switching from your Internet tab to your History tab and then back to your Internet tab.
Also double check you have no filters enabled or anything typed in the 'tags' filter box.
If you still have no luck after this then exit the game, click on your Servers button in Steam, click on change filters and select Goldeneye: Source 3.1 as the game and click refresh. It should show you the servers and you can connect from there.
This is all assuming you're using the right version of Goldeneye: Source.
-
Still nothing
Can I get a link to everything I need to download please. Also maybe adding me on steam (see acc name above) I can just follow you in when your playing. Thanks.
-
I recommend a clean install then. Delete your steamapps/sourcemods/gesource folder and install GE:S 3.1 Full (http://www.moddb.com/mods/goldeneye-source/downloads)
Added you on Steam.
-
I am getting the exact same issue. I've tried everything suggested here, and yet no servers show. It just says "refreshing server list", and never stops unless I press "stop refresh".
So, if anyone knows how to resolve this...
-
Make sure your firewall doesn't block the game from accessing the internet.
-
What I'm experieing is that I get to see less servers if the thumbnail of the map is viewed in the server list (realy wierd). But until you have fixed the problem, you can try to join the Wnx servers directly by clicking join with you web browser if you go to http://www.ges-stats.com/hlstats.php?game=ges
Its where most people play anyway ;)
-
I reinstalled, after following Mangley's advice. Everything is good now.
-
Hi, I'm Brazilian, but my Goldeneye Source V 4.1, can't find any servers, somebody can help me? ;)
-
Uncheck 'show map list' in the server browser and then click 'Refresh' and wait a few seconds.
-
I receive this message after few seconds
"There are the no games available for your filter settings"
But all filters are empty!
How to fix? Thank you anyway!
-
Check you are using the correct version (4.1) and that your firewall is not blocking hl2.exe
You could also try the server browser in Steam view > servers and set the game filter to GE:S 4.1
-
I've added the exception for HL2, and I selected GES 4.1 on steam, and I've tried to search the servers within the GES 4.1 and after a few seconds I get this message "There are no games available for your filter settings".
Please Help Me!
-
Check your filters...
-
did what was asked, but did not work, any more ideas? :'(
-
What type of connection have you got? Wireless? If so try to get a better signal.
-
No, my conection is 10mb DSL.
I Don't Have more ideas.
-
Can you see ANY other game's servers? Select any other game besides GES...
-
I can See All Other Games... but not GES...
If I install an older version, will it work?
My Version is 4.1
-
The "bug" is 100% on your end.
There are 25+ servers on GES v4.1, if you cannot find a single one it's either your filter settings, a corrupted installer or other installation issues.
Make sure the installation path is .../Steam/SteamApps/Sourcemods/ and also the mods folder name is gesource.
If you renamed it for some reason, you won't find servers.
Also by "other Games", KM surely was talking about other mods, not retail Games.
Installing an older version is not a good idea.
Even if you see the servers you won't be able to join them because of different .dll files and maps.
-
I live in Brazil, it can influence anything?
I'll try the above tips, thanks for everything!
-
provide a screenshot of your server browser window with the filter pane visible.
It should look like this:

Here the Picture!

Thank you again for patience!
-
Try to go to your favorites tab
And try to add this IP to your favorites : 208.100.45.111:27015
If you can't see it, Something's wrong.
-
Oh! Thank you for all!
Work!
Now, if it is not asking too much, you could put here some more ips for me to add to Favorites?
Thanks for the support, Goldeneye marked my childhood, I still have my Nintendo 64!
-
Who doesn't? ;)
Here's a few IP's.
89.238.160.149:27017
206.217.128.10:27015
96.8.114.173:27015
206.217.128.12:27015
These are the most populated servers, Along with WNx Chicago that you have already added to your favorites.
But you should still find a way to fix this problem since some players can be on different servers at some times, It also depends what time it is in the world.
-
Thank you, then you can put just a few IPS?
I'm playing here, and is like the Original!
-
Very glad you where able to play!
Enjoy!
-
Can you pass me some more IPs? Please! :D
I can not search them, I have to add to your favorites ...
I love this game, I'll send all my friends here in Brazil!
-
I found this mod through Cracked.com and I have to say, I feel like I'm in fourth grade again. Very well done on it, thank you to everyone who has a hand in creating this mod.
I seem to be having the same issue as the original poster of this thread. I was able to view numerous servers when I first installed the mod. After that however I wasn't able to see any servers. The only thing that changed from the first time to the second was that I moved the laptop to another router if that helps at all. I can add IPs to favorites and that seems to work, but searching for any servers doesn't seem to work. Like the OP I checked the filters and attempted to adjust them in every way possible. I am not even able to search for servers through the Steam menu. I do believe this to be an actual bug and not just user error as I in no way mean to toot my own horn but only to add credence to my claim, am an expert in computers in networking.
Thank you very much for your time.
-
It is current Source game error, which is affecting all Source games.
All we can do at this point is direct connect to servers if you know the IPs, or join off other people.
-
And valve is like:
ups we did it again -
we've played with the code
and messed it all up
uhh babybaby...
I thought after the creation of the engine version source2009 we would be more or less save on 2007, because valve would only mess with the newest incarnation.
Adding features, breaking everything once in a while, the usual stuff.
Guess i was wrong.

Oh great now I've got that song in my head again, lol
-
Thanks very much for the replies. I'll add the servers found in this thread and watch for it to improve on Steam.
Is there a list of the more popular servers which contain IPs not listed here?

Having the same problem. Connecting by IP works though. Hopefully valve will fix this soon.
-
It was fixed today. Hurrah!
-
You might be able to thank me for that ;-)

Hi.
I also have this problem.
First i unchecked the box at the left bottom corner. Nothing happened
Then i moved to the "history" tab. Nothing happened
Then i tried to find the server through steam "view -> servers". No servers
Then i checked if Hl2 was blocked by my firewall. Ti wasn't.
Then i tried to close the game and open it again. Nothing happened.
I have reboted my pc, checked that the installationfolder is steamapps/sourcege
Why don't i find any servers? :( I am from Denmark btw.

Hello schendu.
The Steam Servers are currently bugged and no servers can be displayed for any Source mod in the Internet tab, Blame Valve.
The only workaround this is to add GE:S servers manually to your favorites.
Here's a list of server IP's you may attempt to connect to or add to your favorites.
1138's Chicago = 66.225.231.10:27015
WNx Chicago = 208.100.45.111:27015
WNx England = 89.238.160.149:27017
Spectrum = 173.234.253.20:27015
Troy's Server = 206.217.131.20:27015
Hope that helps, Cheers.
