Title: Linux server constant restart
Post by: apalrd on June 07, 2008, 01:08:42 am
I just installed GES through the console on Linux (ubuntu server) and when I try to run the server, it gets an error and restarts, and keeps getting an error and restarting. I don't know what the error is because it just says "checking bootstrapper version" and checks for updates then says "Server will restart in 10 seconds". I can't close srcds because it has taken over the command line (ubuntu server has no gui, so there is just one console that everything is done in). Any help? Could it be a plugin or other non-standard file?

I tried removing all plugins and it still does the same thing. It says "Console Initialized" then says "Segmentation Fault" then "Add "-debug" to the ./srcds_run command to generate a debug.log"

Lodle (the creator of the 1.1 version) had a lot of issues while compiling the linux binaries. To make it simple, 1.1's linux version doesn't work.

If you want to launch your server on a hosted box, the only workaround I know is... to pay a window$ license :(
