For some reason when I played the game first time, it worked for my computer. Now I can't figure out what the problem is going on with. I removed and reinstalled SDK 2007, I reinstalled the game, I tried to get the game going by entering a game like Half life 2 on steam, then get on GE: source, I even updated to what was possible for the computer (There is no new update for the video driver I use).
When I try to play the game, it shows the usual loading and GE background, when it gets to the beginning of the video, the game crashes with a Window opening saying HL2.exe has stopped working, and then it has windows closing the game.
Any help to this?

Happened to me and Uufje too. Only HL2 game that crashes, and changin service pack / running as admin doesn't work either.

have you tried adding -novid to ge:s launch options?
steam > goldeneye source > properties > launch options > add -novid

I tried your advice. (And restarted Steam) but it didn't help me.

Same here.

Seems a Valve update has borked the game. We'll see if we can get a answer from Valve/a fix. Hopefully soon, sorry for inconvenience.

Sorry this was my fault. I fixed it.

A few of us are still getting the hl2 is not working message. It was working fine for me yesterday even though some other people were getting the steam id error. Please help!

I fixed it (the hl2 is not working message).
The steam id error is VALVE'S FAULT.

Alright, thanks for your help.

Thanks killermonkey. It's working fine now.

Cool that that's fixed. I on the other hand have'nt had any errors at all... No video crashes or steam Id ticket....Guess its a hit and miss on the user.

It certainly sucks to get smacked with an valve-related wonk in the middle of playing :P
