Having picked up the license to make games in the Bond universe back in 2006, Activision has been slow to make use of everyone's favorite British superspy. However, company boss Bobby Kotick has let word slip that a new Bond game is currently under development.
Kotick was quick to criticize EA's past efforts. EA got the Bond license following the glory of Rare's Goldeneye, but produced rather lackluster titles like Nightfire, Rogue Agent, From Russia With Love, and more. "It suffered a lot because it wasn't a focal point of Electronic Arts' efforts over the past five years and they have such a broad portfolio of franchises that this one didn't get the attention it deserved," Kottick remarked.
Contrary to past efforts, Kottick expressed his confidence in Activision's ability to return the Bond franchise to form. "We have our best development studios working on the product, we have a second team working on another Bond product and we're putting great resources against it," Kottick said. " Bond is one of the great videogame franchises of all time and that really was a result of Golden Eye. I think the key to re-energising the Bond franchise is going to be ultimately the highest possible game quality."
Smart words. Goldeneye is definitely the benchmark with which the subsequent games have been measured, and I fear matching Rare's original effort is an almost unconquerable goal. Activision is going to have to work hard for this one; hopefully that newly-acquired talent can help.

I liked FRWL :-\

Unconquerable task indeed.

meh.
-
I won't deny it was a rental.
-
Multiplayer in FRWL wasn't bad either...
-
I wouldn't expect to much, cause i think it's based upon the "new" Bond, and IMO craig is the worsest Bond ever.
So even if they do better than EA, it couldn't be as good as GOLDENEYE.
Maybe if FreeRadical would have done it a few years ago with the old Bond setting, but now it's impossible.
-
Because we all know it's the persona they base the likeness of the principal character around that preemptively determines the quality of the game.
-
And we all know how bad Daniel was. ::)
-
And we all know how bad Activision is going to fuck up their game.
-
(If anyone didn't get it, my post was sarcastic: Daniel was an awesome Bond).
-
I'm of the "wait and see" disposition

You wont get 007 again unless Nintendo/rare and activition all come on good terms
