Title: Suggestion:Notify players when they can't host their own server & provide help
Post by: Joe on March 28, 2014, 02:39:08 pm
Hi,

Maybe this idea isn't worth implementing but I think it would be useful for this help to be provided for players who would like to sometimes have small private games with their friends but can't because they are behind a router and don't know about port forwarding, so the servers they run aren't visible and accessible:

I don't care if people host LAN games, but there's enough random servers hosted by incompetents as it is. Maybe listen servers should just be configured w/o any master servers by default. :p

If you don't know about port forwarding than you won't see the little indicator in the bottom right corner of the main menu either. Plus how can I tell if people can't see me? Why doesn't valve provide this functionality themselves?

Think easiest way to do would be just add a support button in the create server dialog box. Take it to a wiki.
