Both Audix and I haven listened to your work, and while we're impressed both by the original and your take on it, we really don't see how an orchestra would fit in this mod.  All of the music is electronic in nature so as to fit with the past paced action of the game.  The closest we got to a film score was, unfortunately, Golden Pie.  Audix can throw in his 2 cents.

That original Black Mesa track is awesome. Thanks for the link. Yours is quite good, too, though the volume is REALLY quiet. Reminds me a lot of Oblivion; unfortunately that soundtrack wouldn't fit GoldenEye and if the track that you posted is representative of your work I don't think it would mesh well with GoldenEye either. It's hard to imagine fragging people to something like this.

I would like to hear more of your work, though. Please post a few more pieces you've done, perhaps with a quicker tempo and a bit more engaging. (Also MP3 this time! ;))

Always nice to watch slow motion videos of fragging with music like this though ;)

As I mentioned in my second post, the piece I posted was representative of some of my technical skills, not the type of music I do.

For example, if you guys have some fast-paced music that you want to re-use, but want it to sound different, and not go through the process of making a completely new track, I can do a re-orchestration of it for different styles.

e.g. - I can do fast, slow, lop-sided, etc etc.

Sorry about the volume, I can fix that.

Also, I posted in .wav because of the higher quality and I believe .wav is also more friendly in hammer.  But if you guys want Mp3, that's no problem.

*edit*

perhaps if either audix or basstronix has a request of something fast-paced, i could do a re-orchestration of it to provide a little bit better of an example.

I'm confused.

It sounds like you say you want to help but that you only want to assist.  It's like, you don't want to be creative directly but only augment, while the whole enterprise of making music for GES is about augmenting the traditional James Bond themes.  So you want to remix remixes?

How about this: Play a few games on Temple Classic (once Valve fixes the server list, or fire up a localhost and get some pubbers in there) with the music turned off, and then give us a few bars of what music you would set that level to.  Let the map and the gameplay be your guide, rather than being handed someone else's completed music and being given license to fiddle.

That's a very good idea Cutthroat, I'll download beta 3 and play the level a few times through.

I'm very sorry about the confusion.  I would like to fix this by saying that I would love to help with music for this mod.

I'll get started right away.

I think that as long as it does not hit on 'electronica' elements at all, it could be kickass to see at least one showing and then the sound guys would decide on a trial. Having 3 versions of some levels to choose from..lol actually In essence by the end of production there would be 4 variations in lots of levels lol

basstronix
audix
orchestral
classic (me lord willing)

The problem with straight orchestral tracks is that you really have to have good samples (and sometimes more importantly, know your way around them) to get them to sound convincing. Just having orchestral tracks for the sake of having orchestral tracks isn't a good idea. They still have to fit the feel of the game.

Unlike my Casino track fail, which made me fall asleep in my chair:

i think it would be a good idea to have the tracks played at random. sometimes i play the same map multiple times and the music kinda gets stale.

That feature will be implemented in Beta 4. At least two unique tracks will rotate per map.

Yeah after a few good hours of gameplay and the same maps over and over i just turn it real low...
