This is a very annoying issue, I've actually had enough now. Every time I try to join a server it says on screen who I'm playing as, but then I get left in Spectator mode. Anyone else having this issue?

Interesting, need more information.

What gameplay scenario is currently active?

Are you being forced to wait until you can respawn (ie when the round restarts)?

You can try to bring back the character selection panel by pressing 'b' (by default) which usually kick-starts the spawning sequence.

I'll look into this for the 4.2.1 patch.

First time round it was the "Goldeneye:Source v4.2 official Server:LA: Jestservers.com" and it was "Live And Let Die" game mode, tried & tried to no avail. The second time I can't remember the server, but it wasn't the same one, the map was Caverns and the game mode was just Deathmatch I think. A guy on the server said he'd been having the same trouble and that he had to keep selecting a different character until it worked.

I do, 50% of the time I need to press M to join the game and then select a character, And many times, I can join game but when I choose my character, I don't spawn, I have to press B again and select the character a second time.

Gamemode was usually YOLT/Deathmatch for me when it happened if I'm correct.

This is a major problem in LALD, so I removed it from Spectrum's gamecycle.

This is also being seen in Deathmatch if teamplay is enabled. Even if the player puts themselves back into spectate, reselects their character, they are shown in the player list, but as dead. People have left the game because they couldn't join.
