Error using rcon
« on: March 04, 2009, 04:19:01 am »

I just got my server up and running (jmedia.homelinux.net).  It's running on a linux box, while I'm playing on a windows XP box connected to the same router.

Whenever I use the rcon command (after setting the password of course) I get the error:

Unable to connect to remote server (76.22.48.168:27015)

When I was running it on the same xp box that I connect with, I had no troubles.  However I copied the server.cfg from the XP to the linux box, so I figure they should be identical to connect to.

I tried setting rcon_address to jmedia.homelinux.net, as well as my IP.  Neither seemed to help.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

sounds like your router may not support loopback connections (via the external ip)

try using the internal ip to connect to it via rcon.

If your playing on your own LAN server, then connect to it via LAN server list, not with the main server list window.
