It's worth fixin'. ;)

Hey, glad to hear you're enjoying the game!
I created the Dam map, so I can sort of tackle your question/suggestion regarding the "backzone". The problem with having the Dam itself a playable map is quite simply the layout. For a long time Dam as a whole was considered to be a map that just couldn't work for multiplayer, and as you can see with the final result, I really had to take a lot of liberties with the layout to make it work. The original map was so linear, and substantially larger than the version in 5.0.
When I first blocked it out, it was 1:1 scale with the original and it was a real chore to navigate because of how big it felt. So there was quite a bit of downsizing in some areas. One example is the 3rd tower/"commandant's office" section faced in a slightly different direction in the original, but it left an enormous gap to fill where the warehouse building currently stands. There was a lot of fat to trim to make it feel right.
Anyways back on topic to the Dam itself. The problem with a dam in general is, again, the (obviously) linear layout of it. It's a single, long curved pathway that doesn't offer up much as far as choices go when it comes to a multiplayer match. Sure, there's the tunnels inside of it, but those are also just long, straight and narrow pathways.
I very briefly brainstormed some ideas, and the only thing I can conceive would be if the dam was re-designed to be significantly wider, allowing for more "pathways" to come in the form of objects placed such as crates, trucks, etc. It's a tricky beast indeed. I do think the concept is cool, and can't say for certain that it will never happen, but it would have to be quite a bit different from how it appears in 5.0 or even the original GoldenEye 007.
Anyways, thanks for the kind words! Sorry this post went on a bit longer than I intended :)

honestly i came across a Dam Backzone community map where you could ride a boat and i thought that it was an awesome feature
and well with the new footage of The Multiplayer version of Dam from The XBLA version had the frontzone and yeah had an interesting approach to it

Oh absolutely. It's an absolutely stunning map, and worthy of doing up for 5.0. Once I had the bots up and running it was a blast... But I wouldn't even know where to start when it comes to fixing it up, it would take one of the mappers on here to have a go I think.

Yeah I made that one too, haha. If it's the one I'm thinking of, i think Multiplayer X had been releasing it with his stuff also. It was when I was still learning how to map, and more of silly messing around type of thing. The boat was sort of hacked together when I was learning how to use entities. I'm surprised it even worked at all to be honest.
