Yeah, it's a leaked copy, but seven alive is an idiot. Don't download it, because it probably has a worm or a key logger in it, too. He's been known to do that kind of thing.

If people want to download the leak they can but your better off waiting till we put a version out. There is a reason we haven't released this version, It's shite and unfinished. So whats the point?

The people that hacked it seem to think that they are on some kind of mission to make GES open source but at the end of the day if people wanted to help make GES better they would just apply for the team. We played with the idea of making GES open source long before they got there divine mission from god but when you weigh up the pros and cons it would do more harm than good.

Why people would hack a mod is beyond me. It's not like we are Microsoft. We are just a few young guys who enjoyed GE64 and enjoy making crap so got together to make something people might enjoy. But thats teens for you, I'm sure they will grow out of it in time.

first and foremost, it's a mod. One based on highly proprietary intellectual property.
So the only good that could come from making the mod, is self satisfaction. Stealing the mod and making it open source isn't going to make it better. And it isn't going to make anyone more famous. Maybe infamous, but at the end of the day, you won't have any friends.

Sorry to make all you guys wait on the new build, but the leak is exactly why we havn't released it yet; alot of the new stuff has made it unstable and the kinks need to be hammered out. I'm completely confident we'll have a release-worthy version fairly soon with plenty of new stuff that you've seen in the media releases, and you won't have to deal with seven alive's viruses and keyloggers to enjoy it.

Yeah I really don't get it, I could see downloading a full game hacked version(like HL2:EP2  ) but a little mod? A big game can have many glitches and still be playable, but a mod like this, 1 glitch could cripple it making it terrible. And if you have downloaded the leaked version, first of all shame on you, but what are you gonna do? play LAN with unfinished work? doesn't seem all to fun, I'd rather wait the little time, and be able to play with all your friends.

one thing these guys forgot before doing all this work to hack the mod, was theres a very VERY limited demographic of people who will even find out about the leak, and an even smaller number of people who will install it and try it out.

releasing a hacked mod like this, generates a lot of ill will towards the people involved, and only works against their ambition of having an open source project. if these guys had any good ideas, they would have spent all this time and effort learning to code for source, and joined the team as programmers instead of doing all this crap. and then they could have had some stuff to build a resume and eventually gotten paid to make video games for a living... which is way more cool than dicking off in your room hacking a mod for 20 people to play before its released.... UBER cool haha
