Goldeneye Source 5.0 quarantined as a virus?

(1/2) > >>

ChowderCrab:
I've downloaded the ~2Gb file twice now, using the torrent links from the download page.  Both times, the file "goldeneye_source_full.exe" was quarantined by Norton Security due to the threat "Heur.AdvML.B" as soon as everything extracts.

Is anyone else having this issue?  I believe it is being flagged as a threat based on heuristics (i.e., it's acting like a virus), not due to a specific virus itself.

I can override the quarantine, but I'm not willing to do that just yet.

Thanks.

We're aware of this and have reached out to Norton and Avast.

major:
I had that issue when the installer extracted the files. Anti virus flagged the files.

tmp:
I got my Install files from ModDB and Avast didn't detect any threat.

Also if I download the soundtrack from ModDB. No threat detected.

But if I use the mirror link: http://www.geshl2.com/go/megafileupload-ost-download/

And download as "free user".  Before Avast even has a chance, Firefox downloads the file and then labels it a virus or malware giving you the choice to "allow" or just clear/delete it.

That mirror might be shady.

tmp:
Might be a false positive.  If I hit allow, file downloads despite firefox scanning it and saying its a virus.  Avast scans the file on hard drive, no threat detected.
