I could totally love an co-up horde mode for some maps only. totally change the idea of the game too.

My gameplay Uplink sounds a lot like your third suggestion. I've considered doing a horde mode, now that gameplays can modify server settings, I might be able to manipulate the bot commands to crank up the difficulty progressively (including giving more health/armor/guns)...hmm, I'll have to play around with that.
