Projekt Goldeneye another mod for HL2
« on: August 08, 2007, 08:10:15 pm »

Here's the Link to a Video I've found on youTube:

Does anyone know something about that?
Seems to be a Single-Player Mod of the first to Levels from GE64.
I couldn't find a Website or something else about it.

There's a Project Goldeneye for UT2004(http://mods.moddb.com/6051/project-goldeneye/), but this is the first I've heard of another HL2 Goldeneye actually getting anywhere.

i havnet found anywebsties, or anything other than that video from thoe dudes so yea who knows. if they actualy had a full team up and running, i would consider merging projects... but yea they are dead far as i can tell.

Plus I didn't see any guys moving, or any indication of any animation or AI, which are two huge requirements for single player.  It looks like they just stuck a bunch of props in a level, which is cool, but it isn't a game.

...lol its outright foolish plaguerism, about 5% of that video is their 'assets' ;

they have no custom models, no original props, no movement (posing lol) and shit lighting

they have SOME level geometry i notice that is probly theirs -- like the side gas room in facility which amazingly has none of our geometry or textures or props = making it the most boring piece of shit in the vid lolol.

Let me get this straight, many of you are mad at them/him for using characters, props, etc. that aren't their own?

You think Goldeneye: Source is a new IP altogether?  :-X

It's a bit of a difference.  We aren't taking anything from the Goldeneye creators except the idea, we are creating everything else from scratch.  And the main reason we are even making this mod is to give homage to the original creation.  We aren't pretending we came up with the idea on our own.

In this case, it is stealing actual art assets that were created by us, without asking permission or giving credit at all.  Its just rude.

Yeah, I know it's annoying, but it's probably just a kid having fun or something, as it doesn't appear to be the most well-developed thing, and is seemingly not in "the works" anymore. :)

It's just rude, that's right. That's about it, it's just rude. There's nothing anyone can do but point out that they stole the hard work you guys did. No legal action can be brought, and no one's going to care anyway, because it's just plain shitty.

Stealing isn't going to get you any respect, but then again, they probably wouldn't have gotten any respect if they had asked you to use the content, because they still aren't making their own.
