Trying to setup dedicated linux server
« on: February 15, 2013, 02:28:28 pm »

I followed all the instructions in the tutorial but when I go to execute it crashes and loops. I added the debug command so I'm attaching the print out.

you have to put in the relative path to the gesource folder, and it SHOULD NOT be in the same directory as the srcds_i486 binary.

Example:

./srcds_run -game ../../gesource +map ge_runway +ip removed +port 27015 +maxplayers 8 -debug

I should have specified where it says path is actually my username which I removed for forum  posting. The srcds binary is in srcds folder which also houses the ge source folder. You're saying that's incorrect?

Ok, my directory setup is as follows:

./
  gesource
  games/hl2
  games/orangebox
  games/orangebox/srcds_run

I there a "debug.log" in the directory where srcds_run is located? If so, please paste it's contents.

Also, please run the following command from with the gesource directory:

Code: [Select]
ldd bin/server_i486.so

I ran the command you had. Not sure why gesource would be the parent folder. Shouldn't that be in orangebox?

I did get a little more info from my loop this time around.

I don't have enough information to help you. Please paste the output of the ldd command.

I suppose it doesn't matter where the gesource folder is as long as you reference properly using the srcds_run script.

What flavor of linux are you running? x86 or x64?

x86, no worries though, seems to be more work then it's worth. Listen server or regular server, never gotten any to work with ge. Bummer, love the game

Good to know, thank you!

Ubuntu changes so much that its hard to keep up with all the needed libraries sometimes.
