New Heatsink!

(1/3) > >>

Kratos:
So, my friend upgraded to a i5 2500k and also purchased a ssd. We both decided that its time to upgrade our heatsinks. You see my heatsink was all like that square aluminum. Its a socket am2. My buddy had a Zalman heatsink like this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835118019

We both then looked around and found this... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103065

When I received it in my hands, I opened the package up and put that thing on my desk. I was like holy shit this is HUGE! I have been building computers for a while and I have never ever seen a heatsink so big

This is the pic of it
(see the USA quarter next to it)

Once I had it installed, I ran prime95 for 8 mins and the temp remained at 29c. My previous heatsink installed gave me temps of 44c.

It is a huge improvement over the old one. The arctic silver 5 thermal paste is what keeps the temperature down too. Did you guys know that shit costs now $12? Damn!

I highly suggest picking this heatsink if you are planning to build a computer.

That is a bad ass mother fucker

What he said.

Bashe:
Pretty nice. I installed a new heatsink in the summer myself, and it was a bitch to install, but it does what it's supposed to. Temps never get above 57c, which is a lot more than I can say about my old one.

major:
I need a new heatsink... but too lazy and cheap to get one.

Coming from a guy who previously had water cooling... now rocking stock heatsink.

Bro works at Best Buy, maybe one day I'll upgrade.
