Does anyone know a good screen recording software?

No, Not Hypercam, It really is useless and bad, Go with Camtasia. I believe they still offer a 30-day trial for their product, Which is enough time for you to capture a lot of footage.

I've used Fraps for years for 3D application capture, even on my crappy old 9500 GS it still works great, and I've never had any stability issues with it. Just make sure you have the HDD space for all the uncompressed video.

However, for out-of-game recording (like if I'm making a software tutorial or something) I use Camstudio. It's free, open source, and it has all the features I need.

WHAT! I hardly notice any difference, even when I had a low end PC I used Fraps, have been for years and in all those years it's never crashed my computer, I suggest being careful when not downloading from official site, my brother had a similar incident with a cracked version, messed his whole system up.

I might have to try Camtasia again, sounds like it's gotten a lot better since I tried it, can't see it replacing Fraps though.
