Wiimote support

(1/3) > >>

Victor:
Hello everyone,

I'm really enjoying my time with Golden Eye: Source and I gotta say the devs really nailed the feel from the original, better than the Wii remake in my opinion.

But since I enjoyed aiming and shooting with my wiimote I have to ask: is there any possibility for the devs to add this functionality to GE:S? There's already a mod like that for Half-Life 2, so perhaps it would just be a matter of getting in touch with its developer? Also, I understand some people wouldn't want to play with the wiimote but it could be added as an option for those who would.

These are my impressions/feedback and suggestions, thanks.

It has been discussed before, Here's the post.

If you want to do that, it's possible to use a wiimote on your PC with special drivers, and a friend of mine has done it. All you need is a computer with bluetooth and a Wiimote.

EDIT: Better video.

I guess if it works in HL2, It should work in Goldeneye Source, No idea though. Seems like SSL's friend got it to work. Give it a try!

Hi namajnaG, thanks for the reply.

Yeah, I've read that post and seen those vids but I was talking about a more "native" support for the wiimote, pretty much like you see on Pat Glynn's Half-Life 2 Wiimote Mod (http://wii.hl2world.com/) where your aiming is more precise and you can actually move the character's arm by poiting at the screen. This approach is what you actually experience when you play Wii games like GoldenEye 007 or Metroid Prime Corruption and I find it really intuitive.

Once you get the glove pie script working, post it and we'll include it in the next release.

Victor:
Thanks for your attention, killermonkey, I'll look into that.

But taking this chance, would you guys be willing to get in touch with Pat Glynn and see if you can implement his mod to GE:S? I ask because his solution is very intuitive, "Wii-like", and doesn't rely on additional software like glovepie. It's really "in-engine" support for the wiimote and I personally believe it would match your mod well.

Again, thank you for your time.
