So, since my initial post in this thread, I've played the MP a few times, and I've learned a few things. Unfortunately, most of these things are Crytek = fail.
Personally, I wasn't really a fan of the original, and though Warhead was better, I still can't bring myself to play them a 2nd time through. But I digress.
If you haven't played the MP yet, let me save you some time:
1.) It screams console port. Crytek recently released a patch that "fixed server connections" and changed the intro thing to say "press ENTER to begin" instead of "press START." Unfortunately, the patch pretty much does the opposite, and now the demo thinks that all servers ping 0 when in fact they have a connection.
Crytek = Fail.
2.) The MP is set up like a ghostly clone of COD. If you're a fan of COD MP, save yourself the $60-70 on the 22nd and keep playing COD. The only real difference is that C2 has beefed up graphics.
You've got 4 basic "character" classes and one customizable class. It's a ranked point system where the exp. you gain unlocks weapons, suit modules, accessories, and attachments. Also, there are "skill assessments" that also unlock things - just like COD. It's quite redundant and displeasing honestly. Unoriginal.
Crytek = Fail.
3.) Not only is the demo in DX9, but the actual game itself will ship in DX9. Yeah, you heard right, DX9. Optimized for the aging 360 / PS3 hardware, Crytek will update the game to DX11 via a patch. It's understandable that companies have to follow a certain timetable and release patches to fix things. I think in this case it's not so much what they said but how they said it. PC Gamers still use Crysis as a bench 4 years later and now we've been forgotten by these guys ----> $$$
Crytek = Fail
4.) As of yet, there are only 2 game types: team elimination and a king of the hill inspired pod-capturing game type.
An MP with only 2 game types...srsly? It could be (and I hope,) it's just a demo thing but...well, I don't know. All the other stuff that is going to be part of the MP was just "locked" instead of not being included in the demo so... it's a head-scratcher.
Crytek = Fail.
5.) Last one, I promise. The demo released 9 days ago and already people have figured out ways to play annoyingly by keep their thermal vision on ALL the time (allowing you to see people that are invis.) So, because people were able to figure out how to make an MP of a limited demo annoying in just 9 days:
Crytek = Fail.
Hold out for Battlefield 3 and Portal 2.
