LOL

I like how when i post the same exact thing, I get VC on my thread telling me to "learn how to distinguish the difference between human beings".

I am glad that this is in the pipeline for the next patch though.

Funny stuff.

I am nostalgia'ing for all the wrong reasons. I brought this up once before, and even had an idea. I'm just going to quote my old post to make it easier.

--- Quote from: JcFerggy ---Playing I notice alot of people misjudge who is on their team and who they are supposed to be shooting at in any team mode. This is mainly because all the characters look different, and there is no unifying feature of the characters other than their role they play in the game/movie. I know that NightFire also did this, but it sorta worked since there was only 4 people playing, and you know that Billy was on your team, while Zack and Joe were the "bad guys".

Through time tho, this problem will only expand with the addition of new characters, more faces to remember, and eventually it will get to the point where we are making back stories for characters explaining their alliance to Janus or MI6.

What I propose is the classic Red vs. Blue. We can still call them Janus and MI6 respectfully, but it will help identify who you are shooting, and who is against you. Another thing that would come from this is there could be 2 people playing on opposite teams, using the same character.

Here is Boris, who I just messed with the hue in Photoshop. Even though its just a concept, I could see this really helping players want to use teamplay more.

The general response at the time was that people expect certain characters to look a certain way, but when gameplay gets larger, there needs to be a way to tell differences. The idea of arm bands was thrown arounds via Perfect Dark style, or another suggestion was a icon above team members heads.

I still like the colored skins idea just because then a person can choice from all characters in team servers.

How about hats! Red hat team vs blue hat team!

killermonkey:
My idea is a discrete floating name tape above teammates heads that shrinks with distance so it doesn't take up your entire screen and disappears after a certain distance.

Reasons:

1. Replaces the shitty HL2 mouse over and see name + info
2. Identifies a teammate because only they have floating names above their heads
3. Identifies your teammate easily so you can shout at them by name over mic
4. I could also work in a HP/AP display as well

Trying to keep clutter down is the problem, most likely there would be a min/max range for the name to show up and it would scale with distance as I said above. The name could even be a color range from blue to red showing how much relative health they have
