Debriefing > Impressions & Feedback
Who's Who?

I hope this is the right place for this, it is feedback. I was playing Team Deathmatch tonight and there's something I've always noticed when playing Team games on Goldeneye Source, and that is people on the same team always shooting at each other. I must admit I shoot my team members quite often but until you place your target on them you can't really tell. The worst moment is when there's a lot of people in one area, there's no way to immediately spot the enemy in amongst all the players. So here's my idea, the players could have coloured Arm Bands to indicate team colour, this would make them immediately visible on sight and take away any confusion for the player.
Another idea for the Radar is some kind of indication as to whether the player is on your level or above/below you. If on your level the circle would be filled in as normal, but if the player is above/below the circle could be hollow.

Those are great ideas man, but unless I'm mistaken, teams in Team Deathmatch are usually split up between MI6 and Janus characters.  As for players on different levels, I think that's indicated by triangles.

We are going to be investigating a way to DISCRETELY add some teammate cues into the game for the next patch.
The reason why its not in already is because its just not right to color teammates, make them glow, put huge fucking sign above their head. It's all very non-goldeneye.
HOWEVER, yes we agree there is a substantial issue with the whole teammate thing and it will only get worse when we add more player models into the mix. Anything we do add will come with an option in the Advanced Options to disable it so that you can retain nostalgia.

I agree, it would look stupid if things were floating above people's heads. It needs to be discrete whatever you decide on, but I reckon the arm bands would be worth thinking about, they needn't be loud and brash, just a small textured band around each arm to indicate what team the player is on.
Hey, maybe they could where comedy boxer shorts over their trousers... ha ha.

Maybe it would be better to reduce the number of models used for teamplay to a subset of what's available for FFA, and pick models that can fit together visually, like how ST6/SAS/GIGN/GSG9 models are all in the black/blue/olive area, and Phoenix/Leet/Rambo/Arctic are all in the black+white/beige area. No idea what models are in the pipeline, but something along the lines of black/blue for MI6 and grey/olive for Janus seems feasible.
Alternate teamplay skins for some or all of the models seems like the best solution, but also seems like a lot of extra work.
