No Voice in GE:S but works fine in all other Steam games

Hi all,

Windows 7 64bit.  Having problems with detecting the mic for voice no matter which of my possible mics I select (several inputs and webcams).  Works fine in games like TF2, but can't even get a test signal (nor does it work in game) for GS:S.

Ideas?

Someone will be along to help you.

I am only expert on XP issues. This could be a win7 thing maybe.

Mangley:
Firstly make sure you're using the right key, GE:S uses Alt by default, not V like most other games.

If you're using the right key, try going into the game options and testing your microphone.

I did use Alt.

As the original post says, testing the microphone fails to see any signal.  However, all of my settings see the microphone, I can record from this microphone, and I easily use this microphone in other Steam games.

This can look stupid, But this might be the cause
Make sure your right microphone is the right primary device.

Control panel->Sound->Recording

Right click on your primary microphone and set it to "Default device", It should have a green check just like in the picture.

If it won't work, Then I don't know. This fixed it when my mic didn't work.
