Disconnect: Invalid STEAM UserID Ticket
Bashe:
To those of you that have used that solution - did you lose all your Steam settings (NOT game settings)? I'm very reluctant to try this solution because I don't want to lose all my settings and other things I have set up with Steam right now, but it looks like this is my only choice if I want to play GES again before the next Steam update, and who knows how long that will be.

What part of the settings are you reluctant to lose? Shortcuts I'm assuming? Trying making a back up of your Steam\Config folder and delete the rest. Then copy/paste your config folder back into your Steam folder.
If didn't fix the problem, make backups of certain parts of the config folder only (i.e. Shortcuts.vdf, SteamAppData.vdf, etc.) and reupdate Steam.

I just did it an hour ago and I didn't lose anything. It should be ok :)

Troy:
Steam messed something up, but if you do what I said to do above, you can play GE:S again.
