So.. last month when i was "borrowing" internet from a neighbor i could play TF2/CS/GE:S fine, maybe a little 2 sec stop lag here and there but other than that I'm pretty gravy.. and now that i've decided to buy internet and have it all to myself..



I get 20-25Mb/s... Not bad for 25$ a month.. i don't torrent or anything so my upload is whatever.. When i am sitting on my desktop looking at servers to join i get a nice 20-50 ping[depends on server].. when ANY game finally opens.. and i get in there I'm pinging 150-250 easy. and it's so laggy i can't even play. I've talked to service people and it they've reset my shit already and still i get this crap. it's also 24 hours after the grace period she mentioned.

Any suggestions as to what i should be doing.. Or what I'm doing wrong.... I got better game time in borrowing internet from 2 miles away then paying for my own.. I'm straight into the modem.. no router here..

First of all, PING has nothing to do with bandwidth (except for satellite internet due to the bullshit involved). It is just a measure of how long it takes for a packet to make a round trip.

With that said, you may be experiencing lag due to your COMPUTER not your connection. When you tax your computer, it is affecting your frame rate, which affects how often you respond to the server. I don't think this is the cause since it worked well with your stolen connection.

Second idea: Your windows firewall might be acting funny on you. I suggest you try disabling it for one game session to see if it changes anything.

Third idea: Uninstall any of that Comcast software they may have installed on your computer. Shit is whack and I was actually REALLY pissed off that the twit who installed my cable internet put that shit on my computer. It is bloatware.

Hmm wtf is this shit.. i wasn't fully watching this guy but i think he enabled my firewall because i heard the monitor click.. ?? What the deuce is this?

EDIT: ok so i don't need this desktop doctor and comcast desktop software? fucking good. removing now.

ok so now after doing as told and editing my reg the firewall is completely off and i cannot turn it on for anything. and i'm still getting game lag.

Go back to your stolen internet for a bit and see if you still lag. That will rule out your computer.
