The problem isn't Daniel Craig, he's as good a Bond as any. The whole point of MI6 Agent OO7 is that any operative can become "James Bond" if he is skilled enough to fill that role in the organization. The alias and number is eternal, even if the agent himself is not.
The problem is that he is staring in films that aren't Bond films. They read like fan fictions. They take Bond character names, put it in an action movie framework without respecting the humor, style, and over-the-top moments that made Bond work. They tried to "fix" Bond when Bond has been money in the bank for decades. Why? Because they wanted to be "cool" and "modern" and to play by Hollywood's current rules. Bond slid during Brosnan because they got lazy and wrote crap plots. Craig's era has better writing, but they aren't writing Bond, so we audience members are seeing the franchise miss in two different ways in a row.
