WatchMyTrace:
hey I've been away for quite some time overseas.  I'd liuke to start up GES on a Lan with some friends of mine but I am the only one who has a copy of the game. Our internet connection out here is deplorable and almost non  existent and I regrettably deleted the installer long ago.  Is there a way i can copy the files from my Steam folder into someone elses? if so could I get list of them? are they all in the GES folder or are some essential files elsewhere aswell?

Also I'd like to try to get LAN going and I havent found any definate explaination of how to do this, and help?

VC:
Just copy the mod's directory tree and restart Steam.  It will appear for all Steam accounts on that machine.

And you will still require 2 legal copies of Half-Life 2 8)

PS: Oh and the Orange Box SDK, which I don't know if you can even copy that... In the case you run Linux you can just copy paste your entire Wine folder ::) But most n00bs still use Windows ::) ::) ::)

VC:
You don't need Orange Box SDK unless you are mapping.  Just an Orange Box game to grant you a license to download and run the engine.

Most noobs think operating systems are black and white.  Linux for desktopping, Windows for gaming.  Goldeneye Source (Beta 4 WIP at least) likes to crash under Wine; something to do with the HUD I think.  I can dev and trial my scenarios under Linux, but I can't play it for fun or betatest without returning to Windows.

No sense in copying though; install Steam on an NTFS drive in Windows, then msiexec Steam and make a symbolic link from your Wine Steam directory to the NTFS installation.  Works good man; no duplicating of many gigs, config files, etc.  Probably don't even need to actually install Steam to Wine, but I did to ensure registry keys are established.

Mangley:
The account that it will be played from must have a bought Source game on it and therefore own Source SDK.

The machine that it will be played from must have Source SDK Base 2007 installed.

Aside from that you should just be able to copy your gesource directory from steamapps/source mods/ to the steamapps/source mods/ folders on all the other machines.
