Actually they were. We were very close to doing it but some complications arose on WN's side.

To be competative you need
Auto demorecord function
Auto screenshot at end of round and match
Force certain player models so can be distinguised easier.
MAtch config to be exec by a vote
when match is on people can join server and spectate only also their chat is nto seen by the match players.
somesort of countdown so players know when match begins like in quake live for example.
sv_pure somehow, doubt its possible?
These sugestions are all in hl2dmpro so i didnt thin of them, it makes a match easy to start, you do not even need a password on the server.

I tired to contribute to competiton by starting my own GE:S clan called "Xenium Crossfire" (X|C - You've probably seen me or my buddy In game)
So far It has 2 members... including me... I made it because there seemed to be no one to rival WNx and that seemed boring. If anyone wants to join they can let me know. It's not going to be easy to go up against WNx but it's worth a shot. =P

I dunno, I play a lot of exceptional rounds and people constantly try to get me kicked because they think I'm hacking. Not to mention everyone whines when I have a ridiculously high K/D ratio. No one seems to do this when I'm in a round being pwnd by VC or WNx though. ::)
