Dedicated Server Patch for Clients
(1/1)
jjmusicnotes:
Something has been kind of ambiguous to me so far - are players supposed to download the server patch? I've heard things from both sides, and I'm not sure which is correct.
Also, just in case I am supposed to, how do I install the patch? I think I may have done it incorrectly.
Here's what I did:
- I unzipped the file to my gesource folder in SteamApps\sourcemods, and then replaced both the gameinfo.txt and steam.inf, and thought that would do the trick.
However I can't see any servers, and I've seen multiple posts about people who can! I would just like to play a bit. :(
I also have a question that's completely unrelated:
Why is it that on some levels my computer runs them fine, but on levels like "new" Complex, Runway, and Cradle, I have a about 1-2 fps?
Are some levels just more graphic / memory intense than others?
steven_m64:
after applying the patch a restart of steam is required.
and its quite obvious the new maps are alot more resource intensive then the classic maps but if your getting VERY low fps you need a new pc / your pc is bugged.
14 servers seen on the list currently (0 players ingame)
Geko010:
I saw one other person jump in with us today... so that was 4 people playing on 1 server out of 30.
jjmusicnotes:
i finally got it to work! i can see servers now!
i re-installed the beta and then installed the patch, and then restarted steam, de-selected "show map list" and then refreshed a couple times and the servers came up!
now if we could just find some people to play.... :D
thanks for the help guys!
