drukqaddik:
wow you got screwed. did he send you the link in steam chat? did the link open in steam?

Mark [lodle]:
I would disconnect that pc from the net till you get it fixed. You have no idea what that program was or what it is doing to your private data/comp

steven_m64:
sounds like he changed your hosts file

goto the windows folder then goto
SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC

open and edit the file called hosts and remove any lines that contain steam related items.

you should be able to view the web pages now.

thanks for the help guys, even though i'm ruining this topic. You were right steven, he did screw with my hosts file.

When i was replying a minute ago, this guy took over my PC and started typing IM GAY IM GAY IM GAY so i quickly rebooted my pc. He then had opened a notepad file saying my virusscans and my requests on forums wouldnt help me because he was a pro and there was nothing i could do. He even heard me calling on the phone so apparantly he could even hear everything that went over my mic. I yanked out the net-cable now so i'm safe for now.

I'm now on a laptop typing this and i was wondering: would reinstalling windows help? I have devided my harddisk into 4 partitions with the C: partition for windows. Is it possible that this thing is on a different partition than my windows?

Again, sorry for messing up this topic but i desperately need some help.

VC:
Yes and no. You'll still be on Windows, and you'll still be running without a firewall, you'll still leave Remote Desktop enabled, and you'll still be dumb and eating candy given to you by strangers.

Anything is possible once you lose control of your machine, but if you only have normal data (e.g., pictures of cats and Lawrence Welk MP3s) on the other partitions, you are probably okay to keep them.  Any software should be re-installed though.
