Okay, I don't have a C:\Program Files\Steam\

My Steam directory appears to be in C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\

I also don't have C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\steamapps\sourcemods\gesource

\sourcemods\ exists but there's nothing inside of it.

Here's my tools tab: http://i44.tinypic.com/339t7hz.jpg

Can't I just download this Source SDK online somewhere? Every place I see says to just download it from Steam... why not just offer a normal download online? This all seems like it's overly complicated.

Nope, its tied to your asteam account so wouldnt work anyway.
You probably need to buy an orange box engine game like TF2

I'm not re-buying games I already own over Steam just to get the free SDK to play this mod, that's bullshit.

Where's the online link already, this is getting ridiculous

Here is my suggestions:

1.) make a "Steam" folder in C:\Program Files\

2.) move all steam files to the new folder. So it shows up as: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\.....

3.) make sure gesource is in the directory: C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\steamapps\sourcemods\gesource

4.) start steam and see if that helped.

If not, try:

Close Steam.

Delete everything in the Steam folder except Steamapps and steam.exe

Restart Steam and let it re-download the files needed.

None of the above fixed my issues, still no SDK under tools.

Hate to sound like I'm just repeating myself but can anyone just upload these files I need online?

It wont work because its tied to your steam account.
It is clear form that pic you just have a steam account woth no games otherwise you would have loads more tools in there such as SDK base.
You sure you have logged into the right account?

------
I just tested on my 2nd account which only has HL2DM and i can stil play GES so HL2DM is the minimum requirement as stated previously :)

I would say contact valve via support as you should have the sdk base to play mods with that list of games.

I just installed HL2 from disc, which installed Steam in the process. I don't use Steam to buy and download games. Since I have a retail version of HL2 I can't play Goldeneye Source, I guess is what I'm being told here? This mod is only for people who bought the game from Steam? Why not do this mod differently, or offer the SDK on this site so more people can play the mod? This seems awfully convulted.

If you have HL2 then you should have the SDK base things needed.
Doesn't matter if you installed it via disc or downloaded it via steam.

what does it say in your games section of steam? if it says preloaded or pre-load complete  next to HL2 then you have logged into the wrong account.

It says pre-loaded. I don't really care what Steam thinks about my games as I never use it and I just registered an account soley to get the files I need to play Goldeneye Source. And I really need someone to intelligibly explain to me how I could possibly be logging into the "wrong account" - that suggestion just blows my mind.

I don't really want to dick around with Valve support just to download some file over Steam, like I said, the game itself runs fine.

I know I'm seriously hitting broken-recordism here but why won't anyone just host this mythical SDK online so I can download it like a normal man? I mean, isn't this what we fought the revolutionary war for? Or is this whole thing just a farce? A government conspiracy set up to waste the time of people who loved Goldeneye 64? ..Is this real? ..Am I real?

From what you say now it seems to be tthat you have not registered the CD-Key to your account.
When you get a Valve game on disc you need to register it to steam otherwise it will not work.
Hopefully when you do the following you will have all the SDK base tools.

In steam  go to
games>> Activate product on steam...
then follow the instructions.
