GoldenEye Source Sponsoring on Steam?
« on: February 11, 2009, 08:10:53 am »

Hey everyone and thank you to all the developers who helped created this excellent Source Mod for GoldenEye from the N64, I really want to inquire about it getting sponsored on steam.

Like most of the 3rd party mods release on steam, I can already see it on one of the MODs that Steam knows about it.

I think this is an excellent way to bring more people to know and be informed more about this mod.

Because the problem is that everytime I see someone on my steam's friend list playing this MOD, it says: "GoldenEye: Source" but then a couple of seconds later it says, "Source SDK Base" or something.

But yea, I know the makers developers are planning to put it on Steam but not yet right now because it's in Beta 3 right?
Hopefully, by final release their gonna advertise it on steam?

We don't make the decision about being on Steam, or actually Steamworks. Steam\VALVe hand pick the mods and approach the developers asking if they would like to be on Steamworks. We have not had that offer, and until then we wont be on Steam because it's not our decision.

Would we love to do something like that? -- Yeah of course, we're all about extending our player base and getting the word out to more people, but there's not a whole lot we can do about that regarding Steamworks.

You guys can fight for it though ;)

The name is a bug and we know about it, we had it working so that it said Goldeneye: Source BETA 3 but with an update right before the release it broke it again.

I think The bug is a steam bug,  I have people that play HL2CTF on my friends list but it says they are playign hl2dm or is just blank.
Valve suposedly fixed it before this mods release but it seems they have not.

Dystopia has the same issue right now. I guess a lot of other mods too.

Try the new Steam Beta, it seems to fix it and it also seems to have fixed HL2.exe not enddign when you quit  a game.
