I have also noticed that in the current release, if you quickly look up and then down, you can see the rest of the gun (if it's not a handgun), as well as your right hand.

As far as my own personal opinion, yes.

To be honest, I've never checked my proceses after closing any mod, so I can't really answer that. I will check that out for you; could just be your end, or maybe it's just a Valve issue.

hyp3rstrike:
No, I've noticed its with mods that aren't officially downloaded via steam. ie. the client install ones.
Games I've noticed this with are:

Goldeneye: Source
Perfect Dark: Source
Portal: Prelude

However games that ARE downloaded via steam as mods end the process automatically. Game I've tried that with are:

Insergency
Zombie Panic! Source
Synergy

Sean [Baron]:
I just tested it myself, ending the mod properly. I don't get that problem. The hl2.exe is no longer a process after I closed the mod.

Not sure why it does it to you. May of been an issue with our previous builds, but since I play BETA 3, that issue doesn't seem to be present.

hyp3rstrike:
Anyway I can play the Beta3? :P
