The real cradle
« on: August 05, 2008, 09:15:50 pm »

Hello everyone :)

I'm new! I've just signed up today
Yes, I frequent this forum since the alpha version of goldeneye source, but I never registered. Why? Because ... Well ... I am French (I hope it does not bother you much) and I have always been afraid of making mistakes in writing.

Be nice anyway ... I know that my English could be better.

-------------------------------------------------

Never mind. It was my 2 minute of presentation.

I've just found a video that shows a guy who films the big antenna cradle. It is really surprising ... because I have to say that it is very big, but very narrow!

Here's the link: http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=vicxDnn6LEY&feature=related

-------------------------------------------------

I show this so you can inspire to make some changes to the map for a future beta maybe ...

I hope you will enjoy ;D !

Bye!

NO WAY! You're from Montreal you to ? lol .

However, there are some problems between cradle of goldeneye source and the real antenna. For example: In real antenna, there are many more engines and machinery. In addition, it is really tight.

For elements on the ground, they are too simplistic. If I trust the video and films goldeneye, there is a small house that provides access to a small platform which goes to the top of the antenna. This small house is not in goldeneye source. Also, it should be the small passage that surrounds the big sphere at the bottom.

With all this, it would be more beautiful ...

Your English is much better than our French. I had some in French in school but could only write what I am sure was at best simplistic, at worst unreadable. I don't want to imagine how pathetic a native speaker would have though I sounded when I spoke it. Now I doubt I could spell a French word that has not been adopted into common use in english to describe things of French origin. I commend you on the effort you have taken to learn multiple languages.

... now to something completely different ...

They sure designed that with function over the ease of the workers to maneuver around. I guess some of of it may have been the camera angle but parts of that tour looked like they were not designed to have people on them at all. Its interesting how people get use to working in almost any environment, Their were a few areas in the video that if they were in the wrong place and a strong gust of wind came up that it would be hard not to fall off. (~6:00 and that was the 'nicer place')

Thank you for these good words about my English. At least, I see that others understand me, lol!

Good. Now, as you said, this work place seems really narrow lol. Anyway, we should not be afraid of heights if we work there. I have always hoped that one day cradle be public. If one day it is, it is certain that I'll go inside. I do not care if it's at Ariecibo, Cuba

I've always liked Cradle :P.

The real deal is actually in Puerto Rico.? ::)

Ah, fellow Canadians.? ;)
Saskatchewan here.

It would be awesome to visit that place, let alone actually walk on the cradle itself.
Pierce Brosnan and Sean Bean are lucky.? 8)
