Well, I found this mod last night...and I must say I'm very impressed. It seems your website was corrupted, so I searched for a suitable download. I have beta 1.0 - is that the latest?

Hopefully it is...

With that, I've started a dedicated server. Yes, it is a homebrew server...but the connection it's run on is actually quite beefy. The CPU is a dual 1ghz, 1gb ddr, etc...and the network connection is 8mb down/2.5mb up. This should be more then enough to host a good game, and although there's a few more hops to travel through, it runs pretty good.

I just refreshed and my server was 1 of 4...with two others being password protected.

Come try it out, I'll be on when I can. Hopefully I set it up right. =)

Well, before I could even post the first message...I had 3 or 4 people already in it. The server ended up crashing... "bad identity, memory could not be read, etc.." - so I restarted it. I had -tickrate 66 in the command line, so I took that out and so far so good. I think I had 7 people in it already...so we'll see how it goes. A few people said that it ran pretty good.

Making the server graphic right now. =)

Well, I'm pretty sure it just crashed again....

I need to figure out why this is happening...

:edit: this is a windows server, btw...

Glad you're enjoying the mod so far!

I'm assuming the crashes have something to do with our weapon spawn system. I really don't know what I'm talking about when it comes to servers or how to make them stable though, I'm sure someone else will give you some tips on how to get it to be stable, I know it's possible.

I cant be bothered tracking down the fix method i had to use, so hope nowhere or someone as knowledgable rocks up to give you the lowdown.

I think Dr. No (a server admin) knows.

That's for Linux servers though, Windows servers for some reason deal with that error better and crash less often.

Don't run Facility_Backzone and set up some sort of auto-restart script and your server will be up 99% of the time, here's some instructions on how to set something like that up: http://www.garrysmod.com/wiki/?title=Dedicated_Server_Setup#Crash_recovery They're for GMod10, but they'll work for GE:S with some small edits.
Or you can use something like ServerChecker http://www.dumbclan.co.uk/downloads/serverchecker/

Thanks everyone....I bugged the hell out of B@dplayer yesterday and I'm pretty sure we got everything stable. Now I'm just at the point where everyone is telling me to turn off proximity mines...  ;D

:edit: Also, I saw some servers had a ranking system. Does mani mod work with this??

It gives less skilled players a bit of a balancer against people that go 29-1, etc.  :P :P :P

We now have a TDM server. I setup a 12 (6 on 6) man team deathmatch server, that currently stays on a map 24/7. The reason for this is that every map change the server resets itself back to DM for some reason. Regardless, I'll switch the map if people want it changed.

I added stats to both servers as well...and in one hour we already had 32 players that had stats. I think this is a good sign that there is very good activity going on in the community. It's nice here... and it's great to have a mature yet dry humored community to visit.
