Musician available
« on: October 05, 2007, 01:43:42 am »

Hi guys, I just happened to stumble upon this project when looking for HL2 mods; I looked through some of the level models and was blown away. Looking good, for sure. :)

Anyway, I was curious if there were any available openings for tracks. I had put together a Cradle remix about a year and a half ago, which I somewhat hesitate to link to because it's not very representative of my current skills. If there would be room for this mix, I would certainly go back and revamp it. Also, I would gladly offer my services for any other level tracks that might be available.

Thanks.

Kinda busy.  Sounds like it's trying too hard.
Normalised to 0dB... well, you didn't clip at least, but even I like 1dB of headroom.
Bad fade out, it's like falling down stairs.

I'd like to hear something that sounds more like a background action theme that sets a pace, rather than six leads fighting for spotlight.

Which tools do you use?  We already have one Reason raisin, which is one too many.  Much like his idea of alcohol moderation.

Heh, you were kind not to mention the iffy EQ, sloppy stereo work, and overall crowded nature of the track. :) Again, this was put together quite a while ago; I've improved very much since then.

Sure thing, although now I'm in the awkward position of having made a pretty bad first impression. Here's a quick little demo I just put together last night. Nothing to do whatsoever with Bond, of course, or even "background action."

If there's a possibility of an available track, I'll certainly put something together (which will mean starting a completely new track).

404.

I'm still pushing for a certain map that was never finished to come back...it would find sound useful.

I'm not a fan of the LRLRLR panning but it's not too noticable in the first place so whatever.
String section felt ... unengaging.

The track is definiately good for one player.  For some reason it makes me think of Time Splitters 2, which being a Goldeneye descendent, is a good thing.  I don't know if I'd like it for multiplayer though, not that I can afford to miss a footstep for the sake of a block rocking beat.

I motion for trial if/when we have a map that needs sound.  We don't really need a second musician, but it'd be nice to have a GES jukebox sorta thing where you can have random map music like in GE64.  (And don't tell me ZOMG CANT BE DONE, Lodle.  I'm highly confident you can copy files in a program.)

Are you thinking more original type of tracks, or remixes of the bond theme and/or Goldeneye levels?

Personally I'm liking the idea of original and derivative stuff, rather than all remixes.

But that's up to current audio guy and management.  All I do around here is complain about weapon behaviors. :D

Audix, just to let you know we are waiting for Basstronix to show up to get his comments since he's lead audio.

And I dunno what I was thinking with this one:

Don't worry, I only spent like an hour or so on both of these together. Had to take a break from homework somehow.  :)

bad link

p.s i do believe you are the best talent music wise we seen since they got basstronix on two years back  :P But who knows, again your style imo is too different and this project is pretty set in stone for a lot of us. I think it would be like playing two seperate games hearing a track by you for one map, and one already exists by bass for a different map [in a map cycle]

I understand, I think. Although I'm curious how much that "dark Bond" track I linked to doesn't fit in the score so far, especially with half an hour of work (it'll get better). :) I can really emulate any style.

I just listened to basstronix's track "The Watch" on his soundclick page btw; pretty tight stuff.  :)
